What is E Pan Card?
E-PAN Card is a valid electronic mode document bearing Permanent Account Number (PAN). This document is issued in the form of a smart card to any Indian citizen by the Central Identities Data Repository, Ministry of Home Affairs. This can be used by the holder for availing benefits and services under various schemes of social security and welfare.
E- PAN Card also helps to combat counterfeit currency as well as frauds as it provides a unique identification number that cannot be duplicated or used more than once by an individual. It also prevents identity theft since only authorized individuals are able to access the credit card details.
Earlier, this card was called as the "Electronic National Identity Card" (e-PAN). However, it is not compulsory for the cardholders to carry this document always.
All Indian citizens are eligible to apply for an e-PAN card. This includes NRIs and foreigners who are living in India on a temporary basis. The application form is available on the Income Tax Department website and one can register themselves on the portal by providing some basic details.
Eligibility for ePAN
ePAN card can be applied for exclusively by Indian inhabitants other than minors and individuals covered under Section 160 of the Income Tax Act. Thus, ePAN card can't be gotten by Hindu Undivided Families, firms, trusts, organizations and so forth ePan is made in light of the subtleties entered in the Aadhar Card. How to apply for e-Pan card:
Step 1: First Log on to the website: http://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.
Step 2: Mobile number must be linked to Your Aadhar card.
Step 3: Left Side Menu Scroll Down and Click on Instant e-Pan
Step 4: Now you got Get New E-pan option. Just click on it.
Step 5: Enter the OTP
Step 6: Enter 12 Digit Aadhar number and click continue.
Once, Your Aadhar number is entered, an OTP sent to the registered Mobile number.
Step 7: Acknowledgement Number
Once all the details are entered correctly, you see will receive a 15 acknowledgement number to the registered mobile number and your desktop screen. Copy that and save it for further.
Step 8: Now wait for fer hours till they verify your details.
How to download ePAN Card
To download the ePAN card, the following steps have to be followed:
Step 1: First Log on to the website: http://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.
Step 2: Left Side Menu Scroll Down and Click on Instant e-Pan
Step 3: You see Check Status/ Download PAN then click on continue
Step 4: Enter your Aadhar number and click on continue.
Step 5: Now just tap on Download and You E-Pan Card is ready.
